Overview
Since 2013, I've been a Technology Associate Partner at GW+Co, a strategic consultancy that works with businesses at pivotal moments of growth, transformation, and strategic decision-making. Over 12 years, this partnership has evolved into one of the most dynamic and varied aspects of my professional life.
What makes this engagement unique is its breadth. Sometimes I'm providing executive-level strategic advisory on technology roadmaps or conducting due diligence for investment decisions. Other times, I'm embedded with client teams, designing architectural solutions, leading technical implementations, or mentoring engineering leaders. The constant thread is working closely with GW+Co teams to deliver outcomes that matter; whether that's helping a startup prepare for scale, guiding an established business through digital transformation, or evaluating technical risk for an acquisition.
This has evolved beyond a traditional consulting relationship. It's a true partnership where I bring both strategic insight and technical execution capability, adapting my role to what each client needs most at that moment.
The Breadth of Work
Over 12 years, I've contributed across dozens of client engagements spanning multiple industries, company stages, and challenge types. Here are the key areas:
Strategic Advisory & Consultancy
Technology Strategy & Roadmapping
Working with C-level executives and boards to shape long-term technology strategies. This includes evaluating build-vs-buy decisions, defining architectural approaches for scale, and creating actionable roadmaps that align technology investments with business objectives.
Digital Transformation Planning
Helping established businesses navigate the shift from legacy systems to modern technology stacks. This requires balancing innovation with operational continuity, identifying quick wins alongside long-term foundational changes, and building internal capability to sustain transformation momentum.
Technical Design and Delivery
Establishing the technical foundation for client projects, including solution architecture, team augmentation, process and quality implementation, and AI integration and innovation.
Hands-On Technical Leadership
Solution Architecture
Designing end-to-end architectual solutions for client products and platforms. This includes defining system boundaries, selecting appropriate technologies, designing for scale and security, and creating implementation plans that engineering teams can execute with confidence.
Team Augmentation & Leadership
Advising and working with client engineering teams to provide technical leadership during critical phases, accelerating delivery time and improving quality.
Process & Quality Implementation
Introducing modern engineering practices that improve velocity and quality simultaneously: introducing automated testing strategies and code review practices, and tailoring Agile/Scrum process to each team's context and maturity.
The Partnership Dynamic
What makes the GW+Co partnership work over 12 years is mutual respect for complementary strengths. GW+Co brings deep business strategy expertise, branding and design excellence, client relationships, and consultancy craft. I bring technical depth, strong implementation experience, and the ability to translate between technical and business languages.
Flexibility & Trust
The relationship allows me to flex between advisory and delivery roles to meet client and project needs. Some engagements are purely strategic — workshops, assessments, recommendations. Others require rolling up sleeves and writing code alongside client teams. This flexibility is only possible because of the rapport built over more than a decade.
Collaborative Delivery
I work closely with GW+Co consultants, often co-creating client deliverables and jointly presenting findings to client leadership. This collaborative approach ensures technology insights are integrated into broader business strategy, not treated as a separate workstream.
Long-Term Client Relationships
Many of the collaborations between myself and GW+Co, have led to ongoing and new projects with the same clients, over the past decade. A technical due diligence engagement might lead to post-acquisition integration work. A strategy workshop might lead to hands-on architecture support. These long-term relationships allow continuity and deeper impact.

Key Learnings
Context Switching is a Skill
Moving between strategic advisory and hands-on technical work requires intentional mental shifts. The key is bringing the right mindset to each engagement: high-level and business-focused for strategy work, detailed and execution-oriented for delivery work—but always connecting the two perspectives.
Long-Term Partnerships Create Deeper Impact
Twelve years allows for learning, iteration, and trust-building that short-term engagements can't replicate. I've seen the long-term outcomes of early decisions, which informs better advice today. Clients trust recommendations because they've seen them deliver results before.
Generalist Expertise is Valuable
In an era of specialization, being able to span strategy, architecture, AI, mobile, web, data, and process has proven surprisingly valuable. Clients often need someone who can see the whole picture and connect dots across domains, not just deep expertise in one narrow area.
Execution Credibility Enhances Strategic Advice
Being willing to write code, debug issues, and sit in sprint planning meetings alongside recommending architectural patterns or strategic approaches builds credibility that pure advisory work can't achieve. Clients trust advice more when they know it comes from someone who understands implementation reality.
